Unlike usual perfumes with top, middle and base notes, these anointing oils are composed rather like a tree. Each scent is a blend of seven essential oils derived from different parts of plants like roots, bark, leaf, flower, fruit, seed etc. I love the idea from the seeds grow roots again, in a continuous life cycle. Each of these seven essential oils also works on at least one of the seven basic chakras, helping to balance them. Blended in a base of organic apricot oil in a 10ml roll-on glass bottle with a steel roller ball.

Anoint

Floral + Sweet

Originally composed for a ritual at my local Red Tent circle, Anoint has a soothing sweetness and a grounding quality to it. It’s rather a feminine blend with Clary Sage, Patchouli, Vetiver, Sandalwood and a hint of Rose. I associate it with slowing down, calm, reflection and that yin energy of just being since it’s been used in an anointing ritual at my local Red Tent.

Reverie

Fresh + Uplifting

I would describe Reverie as a cool breeze on a sunny day. It’s opens with a citrus burst of Blood Orange, which deepens to a warmth of Frankincense and Immortelle at the heart. Every time I smell this, I want to close my eyes and loose myself in a daydream, with a smile on my face. Hence the name, Reverie.

Sanctum

Warm + Grounding

Sanctum is like that meditation where you go into a cave and sit by a fire. It begins with the familiar Lavender, then warms up with the spice of Black Pepper and settles in with woodiness and depth of Cedarwood. I was thinking of lost, ancient sanctuaries, cave temples and monasteries when making this one and have chosen plants that have links to spirituality like Cedarwood, Myrrh, Angelica and Holy Basil. The latin name for Holy Basil is Ocimum Sanctum.

• As part of meditation

• At the end of yoga session

• Or simply use on pulse points as normal roll-on perfume oil.
